Talbot

Hello all,

It has been forever since I last posted and that is my fault. I am back in the United States and am in sunny California. I am currently attending Talbot Theological Seminary. My favorite class right now is probably Spiritual Formation and my least favorite is Principles of Hermeneutics.
I am living in a small house with five other guys less than a mile from Talbot. I play tennis Thursday nights, ultimate Frisbee on Fridays. I also meet with some old clubs I used to be with from time to time. Usually I don't have much time because of all the school work.
I do not have a job currently, but will hopefully have one by next semester. I am currently reading the sixth book of Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" series.

Christmas at Home and the Return to Africa

Hello all,

I am writting from the Samaritan's Purse guesthouse in Nairobi. In a little bit, I will be heading out to fly to Southern Sudan and return to Kajo Keji.
I had a wonderful home leave in the states. Despite the 6+ feet of snow that fell. In fact, that gave me a good chance to try to learn to downhill ski. I was able to go to Mount Spokane and a place close to Boise Idaho called Bogus.
As apart of Christmas I wrote a poem for the family. It is not actually in its finished stage as I have some adjustments I thought of which I will make. However, I will post that here when it is done.
My family kept the Lewis tradition of a music night alive this year. Each year, we assemble with several other families and share an evening of music. Each person or family takes turns presenting some music or poetry to the rest of the group.
My other highlights were Christmas day and our trip to Idaho to visit friends.
While at home, I started taking a closer look at grad schools. I have started preparing applications to send and hopefully I will be accepted into a program to start next fall.
Overall, I am very happy to have been able to go home for a little while. Now I am back here and looking forward to the next six months of work. I brought a projector with me which I will use to show some videos and movies to the Sudanese and Ugandan fellows at my base. I can't wait to see what they think of some of the films on a large screen. Showing these can be a good discussion point also.
As I go forward, I want to thank God for his provision. He has protected me and the other SP people out here; blessed me with good Sudanese friends and given me a good work. I look forward to seeing how the Lord continues to work in this part of the world.
I would like to thank those who are praying for me. I believe prayer is a real and powerful resource for the Christian and is very important for what they do.
